The ns-3 simulator
ns-3 is the network simulator officially endorsed by the IP Technologies Area. Several area members are actively involved in the development of ns-3 extensions, which are used to perform part of our research activity.
Our ns-3 contributions
The IP Technologies Area of CTTC is very active in the participation to the ns-3 development community.
Among the current most relevant tasks and contributions, we highlight:
- the development of the ns-3 LTE module as part of the LTE-EPC Network Simulator (LENA) project
- co-maintainership of the ns-3 wifi module
- maintainership of the ns-3 spectrum module
Among past contributions, we would like to mention:
- supervision of the development of the first ns-3 LTE module for the GSoC 2010
- radiotap and prism header support for PCAP traces (now included in ns-3)
- ns-3 Spectrum
- Voice over IP application modules
- the wifi patches that we used to match the behavior of ns-3 with that of Extreme
- many enhancements and bug fixes for 802.11
